We’ve achieved our third consecutive EcoVadis silver medal for sustainability

We recently underwent a thorough assessment by EcoVadis, the global leader in business sustainability ratings. This resulted in our third silver medal in a row. This blog examines our EcoVadis history and how we perform against other companies.

Our history with EcoVadis

In 2022, having recognised the importance of sustainable supply chains to our local government clients, we decided to benchmark our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance. Our first assessment resulted in an overall score of 60/100 and our first silver medal.

By 2024, new measures and activities had increased our score to 70/100, making our score higher or equal to 93 percent of all companies rated by EcoVadis. This enabled us to comfortably retain our silver medal.

Over the last year, we have invested even more time and effort into improving our ESG. Steps taken include a full policy review and the launch of a Wellbeing Week.

The result? We’ve maintained our ranking on the 93rd centile, despite the addition of new areas of assessment. This is a significant achievement for an organisation without a dedicated ESG resource and highlights an outstanding effort by our team.

A closer look at our 2025 EcoVadis scores

In addition to our overall benchmark, EcoVadis has ranked us against other companies in the ‘Computer Programming, consultancy and related activities’ industry. Our 2025/2026 scores are in the top 10% across the board:

  • Overall score: In the top 4%
  • Environment: In the top 6%
  • Labor & Human Rights: In the top 7%
  • Ethics: in the top 2%

What our EcoVadis assessment means to clients

Mike Saunt, MD of Astun, comments, “Our EcoVadis medal and Cyber Essentials re-certifications reassure customers that we play our part in upholding sustainability and security within their supply chains. In addition, EcoVadis helps us to ensure that we’re at the forefront of labour practices and human rights.”

Supporting the GIS community

A cornerstone of our ESG strategy is our ongoing commitment to supporting the GIS community through financial contributions and knowledge sharing. This year, we sponsored and presented at FOSS4G:UK 2025 and AGI Cymru. We also extended our sponsorship to Ordnance Survey’s Government and Public Sector Geospatial Events and have already signed up to sponsor GeoPlace 26.
