Keeping maps current: OS MasterMap extracts

Astun’s Extracts service provides regularly refreshed, authoritative Ordnance Survey data, ready to use in your GIS and business systems without the overhead of managing update workflows yourself.

Extracts are produced from OS MasterMap Topography, aligned with Ordnance Survey’s release cycle and delivered on a predictable quarterly schedule (typically January, April, July and October). This helps you plan maintenance windows and downstream updates while keeping your mapping current.

Delivery formats and loading into your SDW

Each iShare in the Cloud customer receives one OS MasterMap Topography extract as part of their subscription. This is usually loaded into the Astun Spatial Data Warehouse (SDW), alongside other OS datasets such as Boundary‑Line, AddressBase Premium and Code‑Point Open, which are maintained as part of Astun Data Services (ADS).

Standard extract formats include Postgres, ESRI Shapefile and MapInfo TAB, supplied as zipped downloads. Postgres extracts can be automatically loaded into your SDW via Astun’s workflow tools, with completion notifications sent by email so your team knows when new data is ready to use.

Where to find metadata and update dates for your ADS datasets

To support governance and transparency, Astun publishes online metadata records for all key OS datasets delivered via ADS. Please click on the links below to review these and update dates:
