Giving communities in Wales the tools and training needed to improve access to walking

Ramblers Cymru asked us to create a website to publicise new walking routes created by communities. 

MAKING INFORMATION EASY TO FIND

An interactive map publicises 140 walking routes created by 17 communities across Wales

Routes are searchable by location, family-friendliness and difficulty

CASE STUDY (A GOVERNMENT-OWNED COMPANY)

Making OS data easier to find via the OS National Geographic Database 

Ordnance Survey turned to Astun for help hosting the metadata catalogue for the OS National Geographic Database (NGD). Key elements of the project include:

ACCESSIBLE DATA CATALOGUE

The catalogue is freely available to everyone, although the data is available to members of the Public Sector Geospatial Agreement (PSGA) and others via OS Licensed Partners

HIGH QUALITY METADATA

The metadata is compliant with the UK’s geographic metadata standard, GEMINI

Our paperless Call for Sites solution uses an interactive map and electronic submission process to minimise the time Planning Officers spend processing applications. It’s available as a standalone solution or can be integrated with iShare, our popular end-to-end GIS.
